Walgreens sues to make sure they can keep pushing cigarettes in San Francisco

Are you kidding me?

Walgreens has sued to stop a new law in San Francisco that would ban the massive drug chain from selling tobacco products in the city by the bay.

Quoting an article in the Sacramento Bee: "Mayor Gavin Newsom says he hopes Deerfield, Ill.-based Walgreen will reconsider its appeal, saying people should use pharmacies to improve their health and not to buy cancer-causing cigarettes."

It is pretty ironic that a drugstore insists on selling cigarettes. But also noteworthy to the folks in West Hollywood , where Walgreens wants to build: they are not respectful of the city's choice. If San Francisco's elected leaders don't want tobacco sold, why can't they respect the city's wishes?

Fire up a Newport and read the article here: www.sacbee.com/114/story/1278669.html
